History
The Ethnic Diversity Celebration has grown into a city-wide celebration and was founded in 2001 By Community Activist and former City Commissioner David Juarez. This celebration started out as a block party in the Edison Neighborhood in an effort to bring different groups of people together to celebrate diversity and decrease crime through unity. The Edison Neighborhood is the most diverse area in Kalamazoo, with the highest crime rate and poverty issues.
